Lea Michele couldn’t suppress her glee when she learned that her friend and former Spring Awakening costar, Phoebe Strole, was also being written into the show. Michele tweeted, “Such amazing news that two of my very best friends are going to be on #Glee! @ddlovato & @PhoebeStrole! Thank you @MrRPMurphy! ❤” Strole plays character Penny Owen, a college sophomore nursing student and the love interest of character Sam Evans.

Erinn Westbrook also joined as another new series regular on Glee. Her character, Bree, is a cheerleader on the McKinley High Cheerio squad. This former See Dad Run and Mr. Box Office cast member plays a high school “mean girl,” bonding and butting heads with Coach Sue Sylvester.

In addition to these new members, additional characters continue to be added each season on Glee. In a constant effort to keep the show relevant, the storyline continues to evolve as new high school characters and New Yorkers enter the scene.

Is there an end in sight for Glee? The answer to that is a firm “maybe.” Fox President Kevin Riley has indicated that season six may mark the end of the story in May 2015. “Never say never, but… there’s two very clear arcs to get to that end and conclude [the series],” Reilly commented at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills. “If we discover a new crop of kids and there’s some breakout, who knows. But right now, we’re thinking about two seasons.”
